Merrimack River Maritime Festival Celebrate the region’s rich maritime history on the shores of Salisbury Beach State Reservation! Salisbury is one of only two official ports outside of Boston–and the only North Shore destination–to be a part of Sail Massachusetts, an annual program of visiting ships from around the globe. Tour three beautifully appointed historic and educational class A and B ships: the 141’ Kalmar Nyckel; the 150’ Peacemaker; and 55’ Must Roos featuring ‘The Pirates of the Dark Rose.’ The landside festival includes pirate shows and children’s activities. Saturday night at 7:00pm, enjoy a free concert with Bellevue Cadillac followed by fireworks at Salisbury Beach Center. Small fee for ship tours; all other activities are FREE. |

A benefit for this year’s Yankee Homecoming Parade will be held Monday, July 13th, 2009 at the BluWater in Newburyport. It’s located @ 140 High Street on the corner of Green Street. There is a $5.00 cover charge. Music is featured by Bill Champitto; his new CD “Bounce” will be available for purchase and signing!

Newburyport Art Association’s After eight successful exhibits, area art lovers know to look forward to the annual show of the latest paintings by The Newburyport Ten. Both the natural world and the human heritage of the North Shore are inspiration for this active fellowship of landscape artists. Their styles vary, ranging from impressionistic to monumental; their subjects from the lush marshes and skies of Essex County to the quiet corners of old houses and carefully tended gardens, but their love of the natural world shines through in all. The opening reception will be on Saturday, July 11, from 7-9PM. Gallery hours for this show are Monday-Saturday 11-5, Sunday 1-5. |
